We are coming to you from a very different location and a very different episode today. But before we jump into it, we definitely want to share our sip of the day as we normally start. And we are so fancy today. We are featuring great value water because nothing says hydration like a great value.
But in all seriousness, it's early, we're out here, we did a walk, we're having some water, so cheers to you and whatever your beverage of the day is.
speaker-3 (00:52)
could have had mimosas, but we did do a walk. We did do a walk. Mimosas for the post podcast, how about that? There you
speaker-0 (00:59)
And so the reason that we're out here today is we're supporting our very good friend Carol and her niece Brittany, Brittany Pipkin Pipkin, Pipkin. Sorry, I should know this. And we're supporting them in just the mystery of what happened to their sister, to her mother, to...
you know, just this amazing human, we don't know. And it's been 40 years as of today. Now, when this goes live, of course it won't be exactly 40 years, but would you mind just sharing a little bit about today and your journey and anything that's on your heart?
speaker-2 (01:30)
Well today we just came out to memorialize my mother. For the last 40 years we haven't been able to find her body. And it's just been an up and down roller coaster ride trying to figure out actually what did take place March 1st through 2nd 1986. And so she went missing during that time and we have found someone.
Someone was found guilty and served in time in prison, but since then we've learned a lot that what we thought we knew wasn't necessarily what happened. And so now we're just on the journey to find her body, bring her remains home and, you know, get some peace.
speaker-3 (02:07)
I was actually friends with Becky in high school. She was a little bit older than me, but we had some mutual friends. I remember back then hearing about, I graduated in 85, and so I remember hearing about her disappearance. Of course, Carol and I were great friends, because we went to high school together as well. And so it was, you know, it was just...
It's so shocking because a little bitty town Lake Jackson Clute and Freeport, you don't hear of potential murders or disappearance. And at the time it was just disappearance. We didn't know what was going on. And then fast forward all these years and there's still no closure. that's, can't even imagine what, mean, being close friends with Carol, I see what she's gone through and everything I can't imagine as being her daughter, having so many unanswered questions.
speaker-2 (02:53)
I think it's probably the worst part because that leaves room for the imagination to really create a narrative and constant narrative of just what might have happened. So sometimes I feel like the truth will be a little bit of a relief to actually know.
speaker-1 (03:09)
I'm not as close to the story and situation because I'm not from down here. I'm from up north. We call it Canada, but it's the woodlands. But either way, what happened? What is the story? Like, was she just driving home, fell in a lake or, know, like you just never know. I know you don't know, but what is the story? Was she out with friends? Like.
speaker-2 (03:30)
The original story is in March 1st, 1986, my mother left and went out to the Excalibur Club for a night dancing with her friends. she was seen leaving and going to a surfside party, a party at Surfside. And then somehow she ended up at a house in Clute on 3rd Street where she was killed. And as far as everything else, that's...
as much as that we know at this point because it's evolving case.
speaker-1 (04:02)
So your mom is Becky Beard. Yes. And how old was she?
speaker-2 (04:05)
22. She just turned 22.
speaker-1 (04:07)
So young, of life, just living our life.
speaker-3 (04:10)
Beautiful too. Beautiful blonde. Just yeah, very full of life. Yeah
speaker-1 (04:15)
And so we're out here because it's 40 years. 40 years that this is like the search has been going. You've got a lot of people that are campaigning. We will probably tack in, you know, the at the end of the video, the memorial. just did a walk and everything. I think that that says something. You've got a lot of people on your side. You've got a lot of champions that are fighting for answers. Yeah. And you know, your hashtag, where's the body bring bring mom home, I think, is what's you're just looking to.
speaker-2 (04:44)
Right. And you know, the people that came out today, what a statement of her life, you know, just to show that this many people after 40 years comes out and supports like what an impact she had and an impression that she left on them in such a short amount of time that she was here that 40 years later, she still is bringing these people to try and find her. And you know, this as the investigation, I told y'all, this is an active investigation. So there are things I can't say right now, but this place,
For our followers, this place is going to be a very important piece of the puzzle whenever everything comes out for everyone to see in the future.
speaker-3 (05:24)
Yes, and definitely if for any of our listeners out there, if you want to be caught up, the story is ongoing and as Brittany said, it's evolving, but it is absolutely intriguing and it's on Facebook, Finding Becky Beard, and I encourage you to go on and look and be a follower and hopefully we're betting on this year being the year of closure. Yeah. That this is going to be the year that you get your answers.
speaker-1 (05:58)
And not just where to go and follow the story, but if you have information. mean, if you know something, if there's something that you heard or that, I mean, who knows, they may have heard it all, but 40 years is a long time and they're still at it and they're still uncovering and having new information come forward. And I think, you know, that's what's important is to keep the information coming so that the closure,
You know, everybody's got to meet their maker someday in life. And your mom, unfortunately, met her sooner. But if you've got something on your conscience, it's time to clear it because you know what? God's going to meet you one day. You'll have your judgment day. And I think there's a lot to be said in that. And I think even biblically, like you guys were saying before we started the walk, that it's 40 years is very important. As Israelites, we're wondering, you know, for 40 years before they were able to find their home and make their home, which is,
important 40 years have spoken a lot in the Bible and I do believe even you guys searching for the truth and searching for answers and that's all you want. You just want the truth and you just want answers.
speaker-2 (06:59)
That's all we've ever wanted. Right.
speaker-3 (07:02)
Even if the truth came anonymously, just let us know. Let us know what let us know where so we can I Say we just I guess I've been friends with y'all for so long. I say we But I think one thing that was interesting also is that during the walk a lot of people were introduced and there are a lot of crime victims here Supporting you guys just like you guys support them But others for whatever reason have gone through some of the same
unanswered questions and everything and it is such a support system. It's an unfortunate support system that you have to be a part of, thank goodness that everyone does come together and give you that love and that support and the remembrance. I think you said two or three of her best friends came in from North... school. Yeah, from middle school. Yeah, it's just a testimony to the impact that she's had.
even from a small age. She was a dynamic little firecracker. I do remember her.
speaker-2 (08:01)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (08:02)
And where are we right now? just know I drove forever and I'm in the middle of, I feel like, Swampland? Alligators and mosquitoes?
speaker-2 (08:10)
Brazoria
County Refuge.
speaker-3 (08:11)
Yeah,
the Bobbuff Refuge brought off Hoskins Mound between Freeport and...
speaker-1 (08:16)
point
speaker-0 (08:16)
She's
not kidding when we were doing the walk the mosquitoes they were huge were swatting of course
speaker-3 (08:19)
They were.
speaker-1 (08:20)
Thanks.
speaker-3 (08:22)
The mosquito spray was in the car.
speaker-2 (08:25)
But I
speaker-1 (08:26)
It's very pretty out here. It's very peaceful except for the mosquitoes. But we're really close to the ocean.
speaker-3 (08:34)
To the
coast, yeah, we're close to Surfside, just about a few miles.
speaker-0 (08:38)
It was a beautiful day. It's sad that we had to be here for this, but to see everybody that came out from the community, it truly is that testament. And I know this has been so hard for so long and you are looking for closure and Natalie, mentioned it. If there's something that you know and you could share that, if you want to anonymously share it with us at our website, sugarspiceandspirits.com, you know, we're not affiliated with them. We don't know the truth about anything. We're just here to support them. But if you felt more comfortable doing it that way or
What is the best way? How would you suggest they get in contact? And you had mentioned it, the best way to get in contact and the best way to follow what's happening.
speaker-2 (09:14)

speaker-2 (09:40)

speaker-3 (09:46)

speaker-0 (09:58)

speaker-2 (10:04)
And I can't express enough how much this meant to me, my family, and everyone that was close to my mother today. It just really meant a lot for everyone being here and supporting us.
speaker-0 (10:16)
So how about we toast to Becky? Cheers to Becky, cheers to you, and cheers to Answers.
